I am wondering everybody talks about a CPAP and BiPAP. Will this test qualify in order to get Zepbound for the treatment plan as this is the only medication I’m aware of that is FDA approved.
Hi! While CPAP and BiPAP are the most common treatments for sleep apnea, a home sleep test can also support qualification for Zepbound if you’re exploring it as part of a treatment plan for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and weight management. Zepbound (tirzepatide) is FDA-approved for adults with moderate-to-severe OSA and obesity.
To be eligible, you’ll need an official diagnosis of sleep apnea through a sleep study—either at-home or in-lab—with an AHI (apnea-hypopnea index) of 15 or more. You’ll also need to meet the BMI criteria, usually a BMI of 30+ or 27+ with an associated condition. After diagnosis, your primary care provider can use those results to determine if Zepbound or another similar treatment is appropriate and prescribe it as part of your care plan.
Please note: Every provider is different and may require specific documentation or steps before prescribing certain medications or treatment modalities. We always recommend discussing the full plan with your doctor to make sure you meet all necessary requirements and are taking the right approach for your individual health needs. Best of luck ![]()
