Hello, I’m new here but like most I am having major issues sleeping and staying asleep. Aside from shoulder/neck issues and numbness in my arms and hands I’m having major night sweats associated to the “Pause” otherwise known as Menopause. I have started to smoke cannabis to help me fall asleep, but I cannot stay asleep as I wake up because I am burning up and sweating in the middle of the night. I also have a memory foam topper which I feel is contributing to the night sweats, but I need it because of my shoulders. I’m a mess it seems!
Any suggestions to alleviate the shoulder and numbness of the arms and also to help with sleeping through the night? I do also have a fan that I keep on for both white noise and to ccoolme down, but it’s still not helping!!!
Been there done that! I’m a hot sleeper in general so I’ll tell you what has worked for me. Ditch memory foam anything! If you can afford a new mattress purchase from Saatva. Go with an inner coil mattress. If you like the the memory foam go with their latex mattress. Latex is a natural material from the sap of a tree. It also has breathability properties. So maybe just switch out your topper. Over 15 years ago I purchased a machine called ChiliPad. It’s a machine that holds water and connects to a mattress pad that have surgical tubes running through it. You set your temperature and the machine cools or heats. Over the years I have upgraded to their DocPro. They are not cheap so look on EBay. It has been a lifesaver especially during menopause. Don’t expect it to be 100% all the time but it definitely has helped. The other thing is when I was sick, I was taking 5,000 vit C. When I started feeling better I quit the vit C and I noticed I was having hot flashes. When I googled if vit C helps with hot flashes, it does. Also look into vitamin E. Always talk with your doctor to make sure it’s safe. I hope this helps my friend!
