Can I use cpap without water

From my understanding, most travel cpap machines don’t use water. It’s quite a hassle filling the humidifier all the time, and I’m wondering if you even need to be using water in the first place?

Man, I would get SO dried out without the humidifier. That’s a lot of air flowing all night and especially where I live (Arizona) it gets very dry.

Yes! I found I didn’t need the extra humidity and turned off the humidity setting on my ResMed machine. Much easier to clean and I don’t have to find distilled water everywhere I go. But you should probably check with your doc first.

Hi! Most travel CPAP machines don’t have water chambers like full-size units. Instead, some use a heat and moisture exchanger (HME) to add humidity without needing water refills, which makes them more compact and easier to travel with. Using water in a humidifier is mainly for full-size machines to prevent dryness. So if you’re using a travel CPAP, it’s normal not to have a water chamber, and the HME helps provide some moisture. Whether you need humidification depends on your comfort and environment.
