Noisy CPAP machine keeping me awake

Hello. I’m wondering if anyone has had the same problem, as a sleep partner of someone with OSA. My other half has been using his CPAP machine for just under 2 weeks. It was fitted by the nurse and for the first few days we had peaceful nights. He then decided to watch a video on how to fit his mask, and he readjusted his straps. Since then, my nights are terrible. Once he’s in a deep sleep the pressure increases. And as it does the machine whistles like a howling wind, and air escapes from his mask which blows onto me. I’ve tried waking him and asking him to readjust his mask, but it seems to make no difference. He is totally oblivious to any noise, as he’s asleep and the mask muffles any noise. I left a message to the NHS sleep clinic, and they rang him back and basically said it will take a while to settle and then it should be fine. Although it WAS fine to start off with. I’ve resorted to sleeping in another room, or wearing ear plugs. I’m at the end of my tether and don’t know what to do. But my other half thinks I’m being dramatic and just shrugs it off. Can anyone help please??? TIA

If he can he should return to the way the mask was originally fitted. If he is unable to he should reconnect with the nurse for help fitting it properly.
