Hello, I’m having a hard time getting used to PAP therapy, and I don’t like wearing the mask to bed. What can I do?
Hello Sloan! Adjusting to the feeling of your PAP mask and equipment can take some time. Start by using your device for as long as you can tolerate it each night, as any amount of PAP therapy is better than none. The more consistently you use your PAP device at night, the more you build it into a habit.
During the day, you can practice by using your PAP equipment with the machine turned on. Try sitting in a chair and doing a light activity you enjoy to distract yourself, such as reading or watching television. Allowing your body to get used to the feeling of your PAP equipment can make it easier to feel comfortable and fall asleep at night.
These machines are horrible. Sleep doctor should give us our money back!
It can take time to adjust, so try wearing the mask for short periods while you’re awake to get more comfortable. You might also experiment with different mask styles or adjust humidity settings to make it more comfortable.
