I have environmental allergies and have been on medication for 2 weeks. Sometimes I am stuffy, difficult to breathe and sometimes I have a very runny nose. I have been on the CPAP 3 nights. I woke up this morning with a very runny nose, sneezing, etc. It hasn’t stopped. My humidity was set at 1. Should I increase the level? I can’t find specific info about this.
A humidity level of 1 is quite low and can dry out your nasal passages, which may cause runny nose and sneezing. Try increasing the humidity gradually and see if your symptoms improve over the next few nights.
Actually a PA told me to take a 2 week break from the CPAP, use a nasal spray prescription and advised me to take 2 Claratin a day to alleviate the runny nose, then to try the CPAP again. It has helped. I’ve been able to sleep 6 + hours/night. Two weeks is up today, so I will try CPAP tomorrow. I’ll ask about humidity level when I resume usage.
