Hello I am new with questions?

Hello, I am day 2ish with my CPAP machine. My husband noticed that I am less confused. lol. He is very supportive. My question is" what does AHI mean? I still feel headachy. I am only getting used to my mask etc. So far, I enjoy the fresh air and humidification from the machine. Waking up without dry lips and mouth. I am keeping a diary to help me focus on sleep goals ;as I have horrible sleep routines. Husband retired a yr ago. :upside_down_face:. Thank you.

AHI is your apnea/hypopnea index. It’s the count of how many respiratory events you are having per hour,

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your CPAP journey — it’s great to hear that your husband is supportive and already noticing some positive changes (less confusion is a win! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:). It’s also awesome that you’re enjoying the fresh air and humidification — those small comforts can make a big difference.

Just like the user above replied AHI stands for Apnea-Hypopnea Index, which measures how many breathing interruptions (apneas and hypopneas) you have per hour of sleep. The lower your AHI, the more effective your treatment is at reducing those interruptions. It’s completely normal to still feel a bit off, like headachy or groggy, especially in the first days or weeks while adjusting to the mask and new routine. It’s amazing that you’re keeping a sleep diary — that’s a powerful tool for tracking patterns and progress. Since this was back in February, we’d love to know how things are going now! Have you noticed more improvements in how you feel during the day?

We’re rooting for you every step of the way — :blue_heart:
