I understand AHI is the standard way of testing for sleep apnea at home, but would it not be more valuable to monitor actual oxygen levels while sleeping? Does such a test exist?

my question is similar. Why not monitor blood oxygen instead of using a CPAP machine. It would certainly be less aggravating than CPAP therapy
Oxygen monitoring only tracks the effects of sleep apnea, it doesn’t treat it. CPAP prevents airway collapse, ensuring proper breathing and better sleep. Even with normal oxygen levels, untreated apnea can still cause health risks like high blood pressure and heart disease. Monitoring helps, but CPAP treats the problem.
